PANCHKULA: Projects lying dead for so many years have started showing signs of life, all thanks to the scheduled visit of prime minister Manmohan Singh on April 13 to inaugurate the North Zone Culture Fest at sector-5 parade ground.
The sector-2/5 potholed road which has been an accident prone area in Panchkula and was not being repaired for the past many years despite several requests from the residents and commuters is now on its way to quick repair with workers burning the midnight oil as it would be enroute the PM way.
"I wish that prime minister visits Panchkula time and again so that municipal corporation and administration remain awake to our problems," said Radhika Kamra, a resident of sector-2, Panchkula.
"Even senior officers travel through this road but still it was potholed. Despite several requests to the authorities to repair the same, they used to care two hoots. And now when they have come to know that the PM is coming, they are working overtime on this road," said Vidya Sawant, a resident of sector-12A, Panchkula.
Similar sentiments were voiced by Rajmeet Singh, a resident of sector-6, Panchkula. "I wish I could personally thank the PM because of whom our long pending demands are being fulfilled," said Singh. He further added, the road had become so accident prone that he had started avoiding that route.
Executive officer of Panchkula municipal corporation, O P Sehag said, "It's not that. Tenders were floated even before we were intimated that the PM is coming. But still who doesn't want that the city should look beautiful, especially when the PM is coming.
